About two weeks before its launch, Bethesda’s Starfield: Shattered Space has received a deep dive video. The development team outlines several new details about the expansion, including how it approaches the theme of pursuing knowledge. However, the key difference from the base game is humanity goes too far, and things backfire.

The story centers around a catastrophic event, revealed to be a secret experiment with grav drive technology that goes wrong. It causes a tear in space-time and swallows a significant portion of Dazra, Va’ruun’kai’s capital. The player enters the scene a few weeks later, but the city is in ruins with a massive crater still present.

Several people are missing, including Anasko Va’ruun, leader of the people and the Great Serpent’s Speaker. As for the government’s seat of power, The Scaled Citadel, it’s trapped in a strange energy field. Due to Anasko’s absence, the various minor houses vie for control, including the Zealots.

Starfield: Shattered Space launches on September 30th for Xbox Series X/S and PC, retailing for $29.99. Stay tuned for more details from the deep dive shortly.
