Horizon: Zero Dawn – The Frozen Wilds Video Delves Into The Scorcher

The dev team at Guerrilla Games talks about the inspiration behind the Scorcher and its attacks.

Guerrilla Games’ Horizon: Zero Dawn will receive its first story expansion The Frozen Wilds next week. Until then, the development team has released a new video which details its inspiration and creation of the Scorcher, one of the newest enemies. Check it out below.

From using the movements of wolves and coyotes to the speed of cheetahs, the Scorcher’s attacks are heavily fire-based. Not only can it create shockwaves of fire and swipe at the player, but it’s also capable of igniting its thrusters and leaping quickly. The Scorcher is meant to feel more aggressive and dangerous than you’re usual machine and requires plenty of dodging.

Horizon: Zero Dawn – The Frozen Wilds is out on November 7th and along with a new story, it offers new machines to battle, a new area (the northern mountains) and the Banuk tribe who carry their own brand of challenges. There’s also a mystery that Aloy will have to solve though how that ties back to the main story remains to be seen.
