Horizon Zero Dawn was one of the best looking games on the PS4, so it goes without saying that expectations in the visuals department are high from its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West. The upcoming sequel has looked extremely impressive on that front in everything that we have seen of it so far, including in its recent gameplay debut– but it looks even more impressive when compared side-by-side with its predecessor.

YouTube channel ElAnalistaDeBits recently uploaded a video comparing the gameplay footage for Horizon Forbidden West from the recent debut with Horizon Zero Dawn footage, and the visual improvements on display are something to behold. Everything from character models and animations to world density and vegetation has been compared in the video, showcasing significant improvements. The one area that has seen the biggest boosts is the water graphics, which makes sense, considering the fact that underwater sections are quite a big element in Forbidden West.

Horizon Forbidden West is currently in development for PS5 and PS4, and due out later this year. Though an exact release date isn’t currently known, developer Guerrilla Games has said an update on that will be provided very soon.
