Continuing with its massive breakdown of Starfield details, Bethesda Game Studios outlined how you can scan a planet before you land to see the resources for crafting, building, etc. Planets are procedurally generated, with different blocks of terrain, but there are hand-crafted locations like a science outpost, plants, and more to experience.

Such is the randomness that friends can visit the same planet and experience completely different things. You can scan wildlife for their temperament and other stats, with experience and rewards granted for fully surveying planets and systems. Base Camps can be built almost anywhere, and there are habitat modules of all shapes and sizes. You can assign crew and companions, build resource extractors and more.

While you could build the camp on foot, there’s also a top-down isometric view for building. You can then fine-tune things on the ground. Of course, you can also craft, which brings up weapon mods. There are scopes and sights, magazines, barrels and grips, explosive rounds, and suppressors. Besides guns like the M1911-style handgun, double-barreled shotgun and SMGs, you also have energy weapons, grenade launchers and guns that fire electromagnetic rounds for high damage.

Those who favor melee combat will have a variety of knives and axes (or just their fists). There are more mods and weapons than any other game Bethesda has done before. And yes, you get a mini-gun that can also fire rockets. Always remember to upgrade gear and be mindful of the gravity on a planet. Your boost pack helps in exploration and leaping over enemies, but in a Zero-G environment, it’s better to use energy weapons to not get pushed back.

Starfield is out on September 6th for Xbox Series X/S and PC. It also launches day one on Game Pass.
