Starfield Developers Were “Extremely Worried” About November 2022 Release – Rumor

According to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, the term "next Cyberpunk" was being floated considering the date and progress made.

Bethesda Game Studios has officially delayed Starfield to the first half of 2023, having previously committed to a November 11th launch this year for Xbox Series X/S and PC. This was to ensure that players received the “best, most polished” version of the sci-fi role-playing game. However, according to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, the previous release date had “some folks” working on the project “extremely worried.”

On Twitter, Schreier said, “Last spring before E3, I spoke to some folks on Starfield who were extremely worried about committing to a 11-11-22 date based on the progress they’d made so far.” Apparently, the term being floated was “next Cyberpunk,” which is about as worrying as it can get. “Good on Bethesda for delaying even after announcing that specific date,” Schreier remarked.

When reminded that Cyberpunk 2077 was also delayed (and released in a fairly buggy state regardless), Schreier responded that it “wasn’t delayed long enough. This will hopefully be.” Regardless, Bethesda says the first deep dive into gameplay for both Starfield and Redfall (which was also delayed to next year) is coming “soon.”

The Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase on June 12th seems like a good time, though neither Microsoft nor Bethesda has confirmed which titles will be appearing or how long the show will be. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
