During this year’s Sonic Central, Sonic Team unveiled the story trailer for Sonic X Shadow Generations, specifically for Shadow’s side of the campaign (which contains potential spoilers, so turn back now).

As previously revealed, Black Doom has returned and has some evil plans for the Ultimate Lifeform. Not taking kindly to being controlled, Shadow harnesses his new Doom Powers to wreak havoc on classic foes (including Mephiles the Dark). However, it introduces a hereto unconsidered wrinkle into the plot: The return of Dr. Gerald Robotnik, Shadow’s creator, and Maria, his granddaughter.

The latter’s death in the events leading to Sonic Adventure 2 catalyzed Shadow’s hatred for humanity (and eventual redemption). But it seems that the Time Eater has brought them back for some unknown purpose. Where could this all lead?

We’ll have to wait and find out when Sonic X Shadow Generations launches on October 25th for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and PC.
