Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment showcased new gameplay footage for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 at Gamescom in the lead-up to its imminent release, and to go along with that, new details on its cosmetic customization features have also been revealed. This being a Warhammer game, that in particular is an area where players will likely have high hopes.

And judging by new details revealed in a Steam post, it looks like the game will have extensive options on offer. As per Saber, the Armouring Hall will serve as the hub for all things customization, with players picking their class, equipment, perk, and cosmetic elements. Each class will have its own set of pre-made armour sets that can be unlocked in PvE mode Operations and PvP mode Eternal War.

Players will also have the option to choose between in the Astartes Chapters tab, where you’ll find presets based on “many legendary Space Marine Chapters”. In addition to that, the game will, of course, also offer the option to create your own custom armour sets, letting you choose between different options for your helm, pauldrons, breastplate, wargear, gauntlets, and greaves, all of which are also unlocked through the aforementioned PvE and PvP modes.

Additional customization options for all armour sets – premade or custom – will include different paints, emblems, and colour patterns, all of which are unlocked in the Heraldry menu, while players will also have the option to creare their own custom designs. Heretic Astartes will also be customizable for PvP, with each class being tied to a different Traitor Legion, with various colour pattern and emblem options being available here as well.

Saber Interactive has previously confirmed that though Space Marine 2 won’t have any microtransactions, the game will receive some cosmetic paid post-launch DLC in the form of weapon and character packs, which means the game’s cosmetic customization offerings will likely expand further following release. This will, of course, be in addition to free content updates for Operations and Eternal War.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 launches on September 9 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
