Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has been a long time coming, and as we approach its long-awaited release in September, developer Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Entertainment are continuing their rollout of details on the action game. As promised previously, they’ve now also released an overview trailer, offering details on the game’s story, modes, progression systems, and more.

Where modes are concerned, Space Marine 2 will have a varied selection on offer. There will, of course, be a campaign that can be played both solo and in three-player co-op, with a story set a century after the events of 2011’s Space Marine. The campaign will see protagonist Titus and his brothers-in-arms taking on endless waves of Tyranids across a variety of locations, while between mission, you’ll be returning to the Battle Barge, an orbital HQ that will serve as your hub location.

At the Battle Barge, players will be able to tweak their loadout, among other things, with different equipment coming with different specializations and abilities, making each loadout uniquely suited to different kinds of threats. And of course, in addition to shooting, combat will also entail plenty of brutal, gleefully gory melee combat, with weapons including giant hammers, chainsaws, and more.

Beyond the campaign, players will also be able to jump into Operations, a three-player co-op game mode. Players will be able to choose between six different classes, each bringing their own strengths and attributes. The Battle Barge will show up in Operations as well, and here, you’ll be able to customize your loadout and use the XP gained from completing Operations to unlock new upgrades.

Finally, there’s also a PvP multiplayer mode called Eternal War. Two teams of six players each will take each other on across multiple maps and three different modes- Annihilation (which is Deathmatch), Seize Ground, or Capture and Control. Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have previously confirmed that the game will have no microtransactions.

Check out the trailer below for more details.
