The Day Before Might be Changing its Name to Dayworld

Fntastic's upcoming post-apocalyptic survival MMO has been caught amidst a trademark dispute, and is scheduled to release in November.

Fntastic and MyTona’s upcoming post-apocalyptic open world MMO The Day Before has been something of a magnet for controversy and skepticism for a while now, and has also had its release help up for several reasons, one of them being that its name is at the centre of a trademark dispute.

It seems, however, that the game’s name is going to be changed. As spotted by Well Played, about a month ago, Fntastic filed for a new trademark for Dayworld with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, with the trademark covering categories such as “downloadable game software; computer game software downloadable from a global computer network; and downloadable computer game software for use on mobile devices”. The trademark could potentially indicate that The Day Before’s name will be changed to Dayworld.

If that is indeed the game’s new name, presumably, it should be announced in the not-too-distant future, especially considering the fact that it’s currently slated for a November launch.

Funnily enough, as pointed out by PCGamesNDayworld is also the name of a trilogy of novels written by Philip José Farmer, so the new name chosen by Fntastic might potentially be headed towards another trademark dispute.

Whatever the game is called, it’s due out on November 10 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Before release, it will also get a beta.
