The Ascent

The Ascent is out now, and it’s really quite good, and succeeds on multiple levels- with its cyberpunk world, with its combat, with its role playing mechanics. Another area where the game is quite impressive is its visuals, with indie studio Neon Giant having crafted a gorgeous, spectacular looking, and richly detailed world.

We’ve tested the game on the Xbox Series X and Xbox One X, and have largely been impressed with what we’ve seen. On the Xbox Series X, the game runs at 4K and at 60 FPS, and largely sticks to those targets rather well. On the Xbox One X, meanwhile, it targets 30 FPS and a less-than-native 4K resolution, so while this version is obviously not on the same level as the Xbox Series X, it’s still quite impressive. Of course, the lack of ray-tracing on the Xbox Series X is a tad disappointing, but doesn’t really take away from the game’s visual beauty. You can get more details in our comparison video below.

The Ascent is available now for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
