It seems GSC Game World’s open world survival horror first person shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl may have been hit with another delay. Original set to launch in December of this year, the game was delayed indefinitely due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which is where GSC Game World is based. In June, however, it was announced that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 would launch sometime in 2023– though it now seems the game may have been delayed again.
As reported by Polish site XGP, it seems like Microsoft is issuing refunds for those who pre-ordered the game via the Xbox Store, with messages sent to customers saying that the game has been pushed back to “an unconfirmed date in the future.” Pre-ordering for the game on the Xbox Store also no longer seems to be live.
GSC Game World is yet to make an official announcement regarding a potential delay.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chronobyl’s development was put on hold earlier this year due to the conflict in Ukraine, though it was reported shortly afterward that part of the development team had moved to the Czech Republic. In May, GSC Game World confirmed that work on the shooter had resumed.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is in development for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
