No single player DLC in the pipeline for Tomb Raider, new microtransactions revealed.

Includes a Headshot reticle, attribute boosts and new skills.

Developer Eidos Montreal has revealed that they currently no plans of extending Lara’s story. Although a slew of DLC is in the works, all of them will focus on extending the multiplayer experience. The statement was made by Global Brand Director Karl Stewart on a AMA on Reddit.

“There are currently no plans in place for any single-player expansions,” he said. “All of our DLC is based around the multiplayer experience for now.”

We don’t feel that Crystal Dynamics have committed  a crime as we would like the complete experience out of the box. The single player campaign does deliver the full package, and we don’t feel like the developer has held back some of the core content.

The Caves and Cliffs Map Pack was just released on Xbox Live yesterday, and adds three new maps. More Map packs are sure to follow in the coming weeks. In addition to these, the developers have also added new microtransaction items to the game. These include the Headshot reticle which improves your accuracy with weapons, as well as attribute boosts and skills, that let Lara climb mountains faster and take less damage during fall. The Animal Instinct lights up XP-laden animals in Survival Instinct mode. All these items can be purchased for $1.

We’ve expressed our thoughts on microtransaction in full priced games innumerable no of times in our articles. We want to know your opinion on the matter. Feel free to express them in the comments section below.

Head over here to see why Lara’s reboot is one of her finest outings yet.
