NBA 2K25 might not be expected to make too many radical changes over its predecessors, though developer Visual Concepts is still making several improvements to the action on the court itself. With a newly uploaded courtside report video, gameplay director Mike Wang has offered new details on that front.

NBA 2K25 will, for starters, introduce new ProPLAY animations, with over 9,000 new animations in total, including for dribbling, signature shots, off-the-ball movement, and more. Beyond that, this year’s game also boasts an entirely new dribbling engine that has been built from the ground up and is being touted as the biggest gameplay change the NBA 2K series has made in years.

Working in conjunction with ProPLAY, NBA 2K25’s new dribbling engine will be focused on dynamic, real-time motions and movements rather than pre-rendered and scripted animations like in previous games.

On top of that, players can look forward to several other improvements, such as shot cancelling, signature go-to shots, a new defensive cutoff system, various AI improvements, a new tutorial mode dubbed Learn 2K, and more. Check out the video below for more details.

NBA 2K25 launches on September 6 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
