As we approach Gamescom Opening Night Live, the list of games that will be making an appearance during the show continues to grow, and another major upcoming release has now been added to that list.

It’s been confirmed that Mortal Kombat 1 will be showcased at Gamescom Opening Night Live. The news was shared by the show’s producer and host Geoff Keighley on Twitter, who also confirmed that series co-creator and NetherRealm Studios boss Ed Boon will be live on stage to premiere the game’s newest trailer.

Mortal Kombat 1 has received a number of trailers over the last few weeks, which have primarily been focused on revealing characters in its roster, including the likes of Reptile and Ashrah, Li Mei and Baraka, Geras, and others. Whether its Gamescom ONL trailer will follow in their footsteps or if it will be focused on something else entirely – like, perhaps, its recently-leaked single player mode, Invasions – remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, other games confirmed for Gamescom Opening Night Live so far are Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Alan Wake 2, Black Myth: Wukongand Crimson DesertThe show, which is set for August 22, will be focused more on providing updates for upcoming titles than announcing brand-new games.

Mortal Kombat 1 launches on September 19 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Its closed beta will run from August 18 to 21.
