Horizon Forbidden West Targeting Late 2021 Launch, As Per New PS5 Ads

Guerrilla Games' action-RPG seems to be on track (for now) for its release later this year.

Even with the likes of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and Returnal coming to the PS5 in the coming months, the biggest and most highly anticipated game releasing for the console this year is easily Horizon Forbidden West. And it seems Sony is quite confident that the game will indeed launch in 2021.

Sony has recently been running a number of ads online for the PS5 and its upcoming games, both of which suggest a launch window for the game. An ad on Instagram (spotted by VGC, viewed below) states the game will launch in late 2021, while anther clip mentions the game’s release window as “second half of 2021”. The specific text can be seen at the bottom of the screen starting around the 00:12 mark in the video below (uploaded by IGN).

Guerrilla Games’ open world action RPG sequel was announced last year, but with all that has been going on with COVID-19 and the countless delays for games that has resulted in, many have wondered whether Horizon will be able to launch as intended (especially after Gran Turismo 7 and God of War: Ragnarok’s newest updates). Recently, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan suggested that Horizon was on track to launch as per schedule, but some rumours have indicated that that could change.

Either way, whenever it launches, Horizon Forbidden West will release for both PS5 and PS4.
