Originally slated to release next week, Cradle Games’ Hellpoint has been delayed to Q2 2020. Like many others titles, including Minecraft Dungeons and Wasteland 3, the delay is due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. The developer expressed its frustration in the delay but promises that it will result in a more polished experience.

“We know you are disappointed by this sudden delay. Believe us—we’re equally frustrated having to do this at such short notice. However, the delay presents an opportunity to release an even better game this summer.” In the meantime, the development team will use feedback garnered from those who have tried Hellpoint: The Thespian Feast, the free standalone episode available on Steam. The story takes place 50 years after the main game and offers a chance to experience its gameplay and systems.

“We hope you understand our intentions and we also hope you will stick with us for a couple of extra months. The support of the community is crucial for us. Thank you for all your love and encouragement!”

Hellpoint is currently in development for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch. It takes place on the Irid Novo space station following the Merge, a cataclysmic event. Players will explore the station, which changes slightly whenever the player dies, adding new events in the process. Along with couch co-op, PvP is also included. Stay tuned in the coming months for a new release date announcement.
