Final Fantasy 16 Trailer Will Drop Soon, Development is Almost Finished

Producer Naoki Yoshida says Final Fantasy 16's new trailer had to be internally delayed, but will be dropping soon, with the game's development itself also nearly finished.

It was close to two years ago that Square Enix officially announced Final Fantasy 16, but in the time between then and now, there have been next to no new updates on the game. The PS5-exclusive RPG’s developers have, to be fair, said on multiple occasions that they don’t want to show more of the game until it’s closer to launch- and it seems that time is finally approaching.

In December last year, producer Naoki Yoshida confirmed that a new Final Fantasy 16 trailer would arrive in Spring 2022, and more recently, confirmed that the game was in the final stages of development. Now, he has doubled down on both those statements.

In a recent stream focused on mobile title NieR Re[in]carnation, Yoshida said (via @aitaikimochi on Twitter) that Final Fantasy 16’s new trailer is done and ready to go. Though there were “certain factors” the apparently delayed the unveiling of this new trailer, Yoshida says it will be dropping “soon”.

Meanwhile, the developer has also confirmed that Final Fantasy 16’s development is “pretty much complete”, and that, in line with what the RPG’s developers have said in the past, the development team spent quite a bit of time polishing up the experience and quashing out bugs.

If Final Fantasy 16 is indeed close to being done, there’s a good chance that its next showing will come with a release date- and that the release date will not be too far away. Right now, that’s just wishful thinking on our part, but it seems like we’ll know more one way or another soon enough. Summer Game Fest is set for June 9, so there’s a chance that we see the game at the event. Stay tuned, and we’ll keep you updated on any new details that come our way.
