Square Enix recently confirmed that the development of the highly anticipated Final Fantasy 16 is continuing to make good progress, having entered its final stretch, with its specific release date likely to be revealed in December. Now, we may have a more precise idea of when to expect those details.

As per a report published by Insider-Gaming’s Tom Henderson, Final Fantasy 16’s pre-orders are going live either on December 7 or December 8- though the latter is far likelier, seeing as The Game Awards are set for the day. Square Enix is expected to pair the game’s pre-orders going live with a new trailer, which will also likely unveil its specific release date.

Recently, Square Enix also confirmed that it planned to release a demo of Final Fantasy 16 in the lead-up to its launch. It remains to be seen whether we’ll be learning more about that as well, though it’s likely that the company will want to wait until the game is closer to launch.

Final Fantasy 16 is set to launch in Summer 2023 for PS5. It will remain exclusive to the console for at least six months after launch.
