Final Fantasy 16 PC Version is Officially in Development

It's "currently underway", per producer Naoki Yoshida. A release window wasn't announced, but more details are coming by the 2023 end.

Final Fantasy 16 will receive two installments of paid DLC, but that’s not all. At the Voices of Valisthea Panel at PAX West 2023, producer Naoki Yoshida officially announced that a PC version is in development.

Acknowledging that many players have been asking for a PC version, Yoshida said, “Allow me to take this opportunity to officially announce that development on a PC version is currently underway.” Fans can expect more information on it and the upcoming paid DLC later this year.

A PC version of the critically acclaimed RPG is perhaps the least surprising development. Final Fantasy 16 has a six-month exclusivity period to PS5, and Yoshida has expressed a desire to release it on PC. Of course, he also confirmed that it wouldn’t be rushed, with the team working “carefully” on it after the PS5 version’s release.

The PC version announcement could be in the wake of Final Fantasy 16’s sales. Though it sold over three million copies in the first week, Square Enix said it didn’t meet the “high end” of sales expectations. It revealed plans to increase sales for new adopters on PS5, but fast-tracking the PC version may also help. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
