Significant new details on Final Fantasy 16 were shared by Square Enix earlier this year, at which time producer Naoki Yoshida confirmed that further details on the upcoming RPG’s story and world would be arriving sometime in Fall 2022. Now, Yoshida has provided further details on those plans.

Speaking in an interview at the TGS 2022 Japan Game Awards (translation via Gematsu), Yoshida said that while he hasn’t confirmed the same with Square Enix’s marketing and PR teams, Final Fantasy 16 is likely to receive a new trailer at some point in October, after which the Japanese publisher will be looking to further narrow down its release timing.

“I haven’t gotten a chance to talk to the marketing or public relations teams at all, so I’m not sure how much I’m allowed to say, but I think we’ll probably be able to release the next trailer next month or so,” Yoshida said. “And after that, I hope to be able to give a rough idea of when it will be released.”

Final Fantasy 16 is set to launch exclusively for the PS5 sometime in Summer 2023.
