Final Fantasy 16

There are six Signboards to be collected in Final Fantasy 16. They fall under the category of Curiosities, but are unique, in that they are all awarded to you automatically as rewards for the successful completion of side quests. The other significance they hold is that they are part of the set of 22 Curiosities which can be showcased on the Wall of Memories in Clive’s Chambers. This FF XVI guide will show you how each of them are unlocked and what they do.

Hanged Man Signboard

“The emblem of the Hanged Man, the tavern at the heart of Lostwing. The village is a haven for the downtrodden built around a Fallen ruin–one as apt to reveal its secrets as the Hanged Man’s enigmatic tavernkeeper.”

  • Prerequisites: Completion of story quest “Cloak and Dagger”, and side quest “For Great Justice I”.
  • Side Quest: “For Great Justice II”
  • Begin at: Lostwing in Central Sanbreque
  • Quest Granted By: Quinten

The emblem of the Hanged Man, the tavern that sits at the heart of Lostwing–now in the depths of an aetherflood. It depicts a hooded, bound, and starved man hung by the ankles–perhaps contemplating how he will take his vengeance on those who made him this way. Now that Quinten strives to build a new future for the remnants of his Lostwing family, mayhap the Hanged Man will rise again–but likely under a different name.

Martha’s Rest Signboard

“The emblem of Martha’s Rest, personal fiefdom of the Golden Stables’ indomitable landlady. To those with no love for the empire, the settlement stands as an island of safety in a sea of anything but.”

  • Prerequisites: Completion of story quest “Across the Narrow”, and side quest “Rekindling the Flame I”.
  • Side Quest: “Rekindling the Flame II”

Crimson Caravans Signboard

“The emblem of the Crimson Caravans–porters of wide renown. They are based in Boklad, where traders from across Valisthea flock to browse the Thousand Tables, and transport their wares either throughout the Dominion, or on down the Crystal Road to the lands beyond.”

  • Side Quest: “Trading Places II”
  • Begin at: Boklad in Northeastern Dhalmekia
  • Quest Giver: Theodore

The emblem of the Crimson Caravans–porters of wide renown based in the market town of Boklad. It depicts a laden chocobo. After the death of her brother and confidant, Theodore, Eloise chose to continue the work they had begun together–freeing Bearers from slavery, just as she had freed him so many years before.

Briar’s Kiss Signboard

“The emblem of the Briar’s Kiss, pride of Dalimil. The forge is almost as popular with traveling merchants as the trading post’s famous healing baths, where the weary can soak away their saddle sores on the way to Drake’s Fang.”

  • Prerequisites: Completion of story quest “Back to Their Origin”, and side quest “Lines in the Sand I”.
  • Side Quest: “Lines in the Sand II”
  • Begin at: The Dalimil Inn in Western Dhalmekia
  • Quest Giver: L’ubor

The emblem of the Briar’s Kiss, the finest forge in Dalimil, run by its puckish and precocious young forgemaster, L’ubor. He inherited both his forge and the role of Desert Hare from his predecessor, the original Ruzena Dalimil–though the mayoralty of Dalimil, he won entirely by his own merits.

Clayhearth Signboard

“The emblem of the Undying’s headquarters in Tabor. The village is home to the finest leatherworkers and lapidaries in Dhalmekia, who are little aware that their affable new neighbors are members of a secret society sworn to serve the Phoenix.”

  • Prerequisite: Completion of story quest “Back to Their Origin”, and side quest “Duty Undying I”.
  • Side Quest: “Duty Undying II”
  • Begin at: Tabor in Eastern Dhalmekia
  • Quest Giver: Cyril

The emblem of the Undying’s headquarters in Tabor. The Undying are a secret society sworn to serve House Rosfield–and more particularly, the Dominants of the Phoenix that are born into the Rosfield line. Such is their acolytes’ faith in the Phoenix, they will gladly surrender their lives if it should be for the benefit of their master.

Veil Signboard

“The emblem of the Veil, Northreach’s far famed house of ill repute. The town is the gateway to the imperial capital of Oriflamme, where waves of old money and new lap against the opposing sides of the great wall.”

  • Prerequisite: Completion of story quest “Back to Their Origin”, and side quest “Under New Management I”.
  • Side Quest: “Under New Management II”
  • Begin at: Northreach in Northern Sanbreque
  • Quest Giver: Isabelle

The emblem of the Veil, Northreach’s far famed house of ill repute. The town is the gateway to the imperial capital of Oriflamme, where waves of old money and new lap against the opposing sides of the great wall. However, the Veil’s proprietor Isabelle knows it best as a safe haven in a storm–the town that took in her and the man she loved when the rest of the world shunned them.

And that is all six Signboard locations in Final Fantasy XVI. Collecting them all will unlock the “And They Opened Up My Mind” trophy. Continuing to collect the remaining sixteen Curiosities that constitute the Wall of Memories will subsequently unlock the “For the Hoard” trophy.
