A new gameplay deep dive is available for EA Sports College Football 25, delving into some unique mechanics in the long-awaited follow-up. These include Wear and Tear, Unique Playbooks, Homefield Advantage and Player Abilities. Check them out below.

Wear and Tear is a “progressive player health system”, with hits on players affecting them throughout a game. As the damage piles up, you must substitute roles to ensure short and long-term success. As for abilities, players can have up to eight, which scale depending on the match.

Divided into Mental and Physical, the former enhances leadership, clarity and ability to perform under pressure (especially if your team is visiting). The latter is more about breaking tackles and resisting Wear and Tear. Homefield Advantage means the visiting team must deal with various factors affecting their composure, making audibles and hot routes more challenging.

There are 134 FBS teams in-game, which means a lot of different Playbooks to deal with. To provide more strategies, the development team has added reverse handoffs, new trick plays, a new Option game alongside more passing control, a new kicking meter and much more. Head here for even more details on everything new.

EA Sports College Football 25 launches on July 19th for Xbox Series X/S and PS5.
