Civilization 7 Will be 2K’s Reveal at Summer Game Fest, Not Borderlands 4 – Rumour

The leaker who previously claimed Borderlands 4 will be announced at the event is no longer sure that will be the case, while Civilization 7 was recently spotted on 2K's official website.

2K announced last month that it was going to announce the next instalment in one of its biggest and most popular franchises at Summer Game Fest, and rumours and speculation about what that game will be has been rife since then. Though there was some speculation at first that Mafia 4 could be announced soon, though known leaker Kurakasis claimed earlier this week that 2K was set to announce Borderlands 4 at the showcase.

Now, however, it seems like that won’t be the case. As spotted by a user on ResetEra, a banner image for the unannounced Civilization 7 was recently spotted on the official 2K Games website shortly before being pulled, suggesting that the next iteration in the beloved 4X strategy series will be announced soon, eight years on from the previous game’s release.

Since then, the aforementioned leaker Kurakasis has also retracted their recent claims, taking to Twitter and the Exputer forums to state that they can no longer verify that Borderlands 4 is going to be announced at Summer Game Fest, further suggesting that Civilization 7 is likely the game that 2K is set to announce at the event later today.

We’ll know either way soon enough. Summer Game Fest kicks off in a few hours’ time at 2 PM Pacific, so stay tuned for more updates through the day.
