Much of the recent State of Play was leaked prior to its premiere, including what many might deem its headlining announcement. Recent reports had repeatedly insisted that Sony was preparing to announce a new Astro Bot game that would release later this year itself, and that, it turns out, is accurate.
Sony and developer Team Asobi have announced Astro Bot, the fan-favourite IP’s first full-fledged console platformer. The game will feature over 50 “exciting and diverse” worlds, and plenty of varied gameplay opportunities to match, by the looks of it.
The announcement trailer showcases plenty of gameplay across several different worlds, showing glimpses of the platforming action, several bosses, flying sections, and in true Astro Bot fashion, a number of easter eggs for beloved PlayStation properties, including God of War, Uncharted, PaRappa the Rapper, Shadow of the Colossus, and more. Check out the trailer below.
Astro Bot launches for PS5 on September 6. Pre-orders for the game will go live on June 7.
