Konami has been rumour to be working on revivals of a number of its biggest properties, and one among those that has been in the leaks frequently for a while now is Silent Hill. Leaks have repeatedly claimed that there are three new Silent Hill games in development, one of which is supposedly a remake of Silent Hill 2 being made by Bloober Team of The Medium and Layers of Fear fame.
Now, new images of the remake seem to have leaked. Recently, Twitter user @the_marmolade shared a number of new images allegedly from the Silent Hill 2 remake. The images themselves aren’t terrible exciting- they’re extremely low resolution and look what you’d expect a modern AAA survival horror remake to look like.
What’s interesting is that since then, prominent insider Dusk Golem has lent some credibility to the leak. Responding in a thread about the leaked images on ResetEra, the insider the images are real- though they’re “not even close to the final product” and not “what the final game looks like.”
According to Dusk Golem, these images are from a pitch that Bloober Team developed when Konami was accepting pitches on the project from a number of studios before production was greenlit and actually began.
Interestingly, recent reports have suggested that the long-awaited Silent Hill revival could soon get officially unveiled– though with three Silent Hill games allegedly in development, it remains to be seen how Konami will choose to pace those announcements.
Konami has confirmed that it’ll be announcing a new game in “world-loved series” at Tokyo Game Show 2022 later this month (though reports claim that that’s likely to be a remaster of Metal Gear Solid 1-3). Meanwhile, a PlayStation Showcase is also reportedly scheduled for this month. With the Silent Hill 2 remake reported to be a PS5 exclusive, the showcase might be one to keep an eye on for series fans.
