Alien: Isolation Lo-Fi Sci-Fi Trailer Explains Design Aesthetics

Welcome to the 70's, where everything was far scarier than you think.

Despite the Alien franchise seeing a rather troubled history of games till now, The Creative Assembly’s Alien: Isolation will seek to recreate the sheer horror and despair that made the first film such a classic. It attends to do so by taking the aesthetics of the 1970’s film and applying them to the game. Check out the newest trailer for the same which explains the process.

According to creative lead Alistair Hope, “This isn’t a world of holograms and touchscreens; there’s no sense here that technology is going to save you.”

The whole aesthetic is meant to convey a world that is very much rooted in the past, with CRT monitors, duct-tap, clunky control panels and technology that seems to have taken several steps backward in design to move two steps forward in functionality.

Alien: Isolation releases on October 7th for Xbox One, PC, PS4, PS3 and Xbox 360.
